World's Largest Artificial beach

The Vision: Toowoomba’s World-Class Artificial Beach & Wave Pool

I propose we build the world’s largest artificial beach and wave pool—a landmark destination that will redefine Toowoomba’s recreational landscape. The proposed beach would stretch one mile in length, with a wave pool spanning approximately 370,000m² (1/7th of a mile deep).

While this may sound ambitious, the reality is that large-scale wave pools are far more affordable to construct than many might expect.

Why Now? Why Toowoomba?

Over the next 50 years, the Toowoomba Regional Council forecasts a population boom from today’s 170,000 residents to somewhere between 1.1 million and 1.3 million. If key industrial and infrastructure projects succeed, Toowoomba could also see a massive transient population of tourists and travelers—several times the number of fixed residents.

If we’re going to build a beach, it needs to be BIG.

Capacity & Impact

With a one-mile-long beachfront extending 130 meters deep, we’re looking at a total area of 210,000m². At a density of one person per 9m², the beach could comfortably accommodate over 23,000 people at once.

This isn’t just a project—it’s a permanent transformation of Toowoomba’s community landscape. A destination for locals, a magnet for visitors, and a once-in-a-generation investment in the region’s future.
